Back then we had it all figured out, we knew the world it was ours for the taking.
And with a pact that we were all in, to fail, the thought of that it was never an option.
We'd take shots in the back seat, and talk about the bands and how we thought they were something more
Than just a flash in the pan, and we would end up like them,
and not another ghost that met its demise to the scene.

So I'm gonna raise my glass to those kids,
the ones that knew that life is all about taking chances.
And I got mine, and this time I'll let it ride.
But there's only one real thing that you taught me,
that you gotta turn your dreams into something more than just a face on the wall,
or a late night call. It's a quarter passed life and I'm waiting for more.

Fast forward 9 more years, and these kids aren't here. They wanted nothing to do with us.
I wanna trade this hand I've been dealt for a chance to hit the open road.
And when the pedal finally meets the floor, I know I'll still want more from this chance that I'm taking.
This is the shot I can't afford to miss, so blow me one last kiss, then I'm gone.
